The realities in which we currently operate are very surreal, there are a lot of questions and so far no answer. We will make every effort to organize Sounds from the Root in August, in the form allowed by the circumstances ... We give ourselves the time to the end of May, then we will decide ... are we doing the festival and how and in what form
If by that time the circumstances change enough for the festival to take place - we will inform you about it. Organizational work is in progress.
If organizing the festival will be in conflict with the imposed restrictions, involves excessive risk or conflicts with the local point of view, we will postpone our meeting to the next year...
We believe that around the given date we will come back to you with good news.

We are pleased to inform you that the next, fifth edition of the festival "Sounds from the Root" will be held in the beautiful and picturesque Vistula scenery of forests and fields, 2 km from Kazimierz Dolny in Wojszyn. This is the only such event in Poland. As part of the festival, we plan a series of interesting concerts, workshops and lectures. In addition, we want to create a space for relaxation, chillout, bonfire, yoga and a playground for kids. On the area of the festival there will be a campsite and a car park, all in one place !! Therefore, get ready for great event tents, playing together, kids and pets are welcome.

Sonosfera - concert, workshop and performance activities of the Didjeridoo.PL Association. The main theme of the project is the combination of live music with unique landscapes and character of the places to create "sonic landscapes" as well as the promotion of the oldest wind instrument in the world - the didgeridoo.

Three days filled with DIDGERIDOO, fantastic instruments, incredible musicians, concerts, workshops, meetings and all that in the ambience of the Root Glen in Kazimierz Dolny.
This
is the third festival edition, with the previous two exposing how
colourful and interesting is the Polish didgeridoo scene, they showed
us also how important the yearly festival is, a place and time where
musicians, instrument builders and anthusiasts can meet, take part in
concerts and workshops, share their experience and co-create the
scene. After the first spontanous festival we cought the wind in the
sails and we created the DIDJERIDOO.PL association. The aim of the
association is to animate and support the didgeridoo culture in all
the fields of art it takes part in. As the association we published
the CD record from the first festival with the goal of accompanying
every festival edition with such a publication (second part of the
medley is under preparation and will be published for the June's
festival). From the third edition our festival opens up to the world,
you will be able to delight in not only homegrown performers but also
wonderful musicians from other parts of the world. Sounds from the

WORKSHOPS
1. The workshop for all those who would like to learn playing didgeridoo: learn the possibilities and the range of various soundmaking; learn the methods of circular breathing.
2. The workshop for beginners during which one can learn how to breathe continuously. Students will learn: the excercises that will reinforce the diaphragm and will make the playing much easier and more pleasurable; what the aliquotes and vocals are and how to use them; the basis of beatbox. Finally we will create the first musical piece based on what we have learnt.
3. The workshop for advanced players where they will learn in a simple and accecible way the secxrets of the primeval australian instrument: sound modulation - drones, overtones, sound making and voice and volume usage, animal sounds, and vocalisations; the rules of creating the musical compositions based on rythm; various circular breathing techniques.
4.The construction, technology and building of the didgeridoo based on various kinds of wood. The discussion on basig rules of building the didgeridoo using appropriate proportions, mouthpieces, channels and nozzels. The methods of tunning the didgeridoo and pitching it with an appropriate playing technique.
5. The workshop-lecture on Didjeridu: traditional and non-traditional. What does it mean: traditional usage of the ritual instrument? The display and the musical rehearsal. (Discussion panel for all interested in the topic) 6. Open (free of charge) workshop for children What is a talking stick? How can you start playing the didgeridoo? How to make the first sound and develop the musical adventure with the didgeridoo sound?

Marek Styczyński
a live legend of Polish avant garde music, the co-founder of Atman and Magic Carpathians Project. The first to use didgeridoo on the scene in Poland. The music plajed in Project uses the Jazz sonic and structural innovations inspired by ethnic music as well as minimal kinds of ambient and environment music, not avoiding the avant pop and using the idioms of traditional music of Cantral and East Europe.
Rafał "Ruff" Libner
Musician and traveller, playing the didjeridu since 1998. He records and performs with Radio Samsara , Nell Ambientes, Balanda Didjeridoo Duo. He also cooperates with: Stary Theatre in Cracow as a didjeridu musician in Factory 2 by Krystian Lupa; Studnia O storytellers group, Storia Theurgica Dynamic Multimedia Project. He also performed with Gadająca Tykwa (Talking Gourd); during numerous travels to Nepal he performed and recorded with Shyam Nepali Group. His solo project is called 'Travelling Didgeridoo' where he uses personally recorded films of the road as a video background.
Łukasz "Luka" Hołuj
He plays didgeridoo since 1995; he also builds the instruments using wood and composites. He co-creates one of the first didgeridoo duos in Poland: Balanda Didgeridoo Duo. Since 2008 he cooperates with Stary Theatre in Cracow in Factory 2 by Krystian Lupa. He took part in numerous international fetivals. He participated in many music projects such as Syrbvski Jeb, Klangor, Yerba Mater,Raga Praga recordings, Michał Lorenc music recordings for Strawbery Wine film by D. Jabłoński and Krzesimir Dembski Music recordings for An Ancient Tale.
Jakub Pieleszek
painter artist, musician and performer, he explores the experimental research in sound. The founder of Dijdrak workshop - one of the workshops specialised in building the didgeridoos that operates in Poland longest operating in Poland. From 2001 he builds and constructs didgeridoos using personal solucions and various techniques. Co-founder of the Kookaburra didgeridoo duo and solo project creator Tam, gdzie wybijają źródła (Where the springs flow out). He also cooperated with Lustra Strona Druga, Teatr Snów, Pieśń Kozła theatres.
Marta Sapierzyńska
Multiinstrumentalist, culture animator, since 2006 she plays didgeridoo. She creates music using her voice, primeval instruments and archaic sounds accompanying world cultures only, inspired by mode3rn techniques of music making. She is an author of Oddechy (breaths) project: adaptation of traditional Polish folk songs with archiic and historical instruments.
